PTK feels like one of the few places on Chaweng that's kept the Thailand atmosphere I remember from 20 years ago. I feel at home in these simple, down-to-earth lodgings. It's comfortable, good value for a fair price, and has what I need: beach access, a pool, clean, nicely sized rooms, and great staff. Bars and convenience stores are close, as is Central Samui. It's not the most luxurious place, but that's not what makes me feel at home. If you need a hotel to show off to your Instagram friends, this may not be it. I'm not particularly sad about that :)

The rooms could use an upgrade, but I still thought this was a great place to stay in Koh Samui. The central location was especially good, and the service was very good too. During my visit, though, many loud visitors from one particular country were on the beach, which ruined the experience for people hoping for a quiet, relaxing holiday.

PTK Beach is in a great spot, right on the beach and on Chaweng Beach Rd. There's a pool that nobody seemed to use, and we could rent a scooter from the hotel for 250 Baht a day. Reception has filtered water, and they can arrange an airport taxi for 350 baht. We stayed two nights. The room was tiny but had A/C and wifi. The whole place is a bit rough and could do with a full makeover, though it does the job in a pinch. It's close to the airport, so planes fly overhead all the time. You can also hear everything in the hallway from reception down to the beach. People walking, talking, or yelling there in the middle of the night made it loud.

Being right by the sea was the highlight of our delightful two-night stay. We could look out at the wide horizon whenever we wanted, and the ocean views were lovely both day and night. Waking up to the sight and sound of waves just outside our window felt refreshing and gave the trip a special charm.

Very good value for the price. Everyone was welcoming, smiling, and helpful, from reception and housekeeping to the landscaping staff, and the place was very clean. It's perfectly situated, with the beach on one side and the main street on the other. Central Samui is two minutes away, and 7/11 is a five-minute walk.
