Rattana House Homestay

After weeks in dorms, we couldn’t have asked for more from our first Airbnb on our backpacking trip. The apartment was clean, cozy, and a great place to relax. Johnny was an excellent host and available around the clock for questions, concerns, or advice. He also helped arrange taxis, scooters, and boat tickets. We’d recommend staying here if you want to unwind and feel at home quickly.

The room felt modern and homey, and it was quiet inside, but there were lots of tiny ants. During our five nights, nobody came to clean, take out the rubbish, or change the towels or sheets. We also didn’t feel very comfortable learning that the owners lived in the house, since that wasn’t made very clear. It gets noisy too, so I wouldn’t recommend it if you’re a light sleeper. The windows are really old, and we could hear the neighbour shouting at night as well as all the bikes passing by. There are way too many of them.

Johnny has been exceptionally helpful, from recommending places to eat to helping me get around. He arranged a transfer for me and a ton of luggage from Phuket to Samui at a very reasonable price, and rented me his scooter for a great price too. I highly recommend staying here.
