Renaissance Koh Samui Resort & Spa

We had a great honeymoon stay, and this was our favourite hotel experience during our visit to Thailand. The staff were friendly and helpful, and the service went above and beyond. I have a rare allergy, and they made sure our meals were suitable for me. It was calm and quiet while we were there. We stayed in a villa and would book it again. The beach was shallow and calm, which made paddleboarding easy.

We picked Renaissance Koh Samui Resort and Spa for a change after trying high-end places like JW Marriott, Anantara and Dusit Thani around Phuket, Khao Lak and Krabi. We arrived and were upgraded to a villa, which was pure bliss, and we're enjoying every minute here. It feels more like a small boutique hotel than a huge resort such as JW Marriott Phuket or Khao Lak. There's an intimate, romantic feel and no big crowds, exactly what we wanted, especially since we wanted to avoid wedding parties. Some evenings the restaurant feels almost private because there are so few people around, as we've noticed at places like Dusit Thani Beach Krabi too. We don't mind, we like the VIP treatment. The second long pool, in a separate area, is a quieter option. It could use more loungers, but that hasn't affected us because we use the main pool and beach, where there are plenty of seats and no need to rush out early to claim one. Service has been top notch from the front desk, concierges, breakfast restaurant, pool bar, Thai restaurant and housekeeping. The food is amazing, and the Marriott standards are all here. Thanks so much, we'll make the most of our last days!

The grounds were a plant lover's delight, with lovely landscaping and little stone and wood details tucked around the property. It was a peaceful place to relax and enjoy nature. We were made to feel like VIPs from the moment we arrived at the Renaissance Hotel in Koh Samui. The staff were warm, attentive and caring, and went out of their way over the details of our stay. They even gave us thank you notes. Our room stayed fresh, spotless and comfortable, and housekeeping kept everything in great shape. Breakfast was another highlight, with lots of high-quality choices. It has a nice mix of comfort, luxury and thoughtful service. A good fit for couples, honeymooners or anyone wanting a memorable stay. We'd happily come back and recommend it.

The hotel sits on two sides of the road, joined by a walkway. We had a deluxe room on the side away from reception and the villas, and it was easy to get over to the main side. The room itself was great. Breakfast had a huge range of options for both westerners and asians. TawaNN restaurant felt special, while Banana restaurant serves all day from the same menu as the pool bar. We walked to Tamarind Springs in about 20 minutes and felt comfortable on the way. There's also a courtesy bus to Lamai and Chaweng, though it doesn't run in the evenings. Our airport taxi turned out to be the hotel minibus, which was excellent. The food and service were exceptional. Alice at the front desk, Peace in the restaurant and Game at the Pool Bar made our stay even better. We'd definitely stay again.
