The Samui Mermaid Resort

We often came back in the evening to find the room uncleaned or missing toilet paper and fresh towels. Staff also refused several times to replace our towels because they thought we had extras, though we didn't. They were often unfriendly, unhelpful, and unwilling to accommodate us. Pool or beach towels cost extra, which hadn't been mentioned beforehand. The bathroom drain was already failing on our first day. Reception said it had been fixed and promised a room change the next day, but then refused to move us unless we paid an extra fee. The issue was technical, not a change we had requested without reason. Even once the drain worked, the bathroom had a strong smell that made it hard to breathe comfortably, and the drain kept clogging during our stay. The whole experience was very disappointing and affected how we felt about the hotel.

The views and room were great, and the service was amazing. I asked the staff to help arrange a birthday surprise for my wife, and they kindly did. Thank you so much, we had a wonderful time.

We paid £32 for two nights, which was very good value. The place is right beside the port for Koh pha ngan, and there are food shops all along the street with plenty of choice. A 7/11 is less than a five-minute walk away. The staff were friendly, the room was cozy, and the pool was nice. We didn't have air conditioning, but the fan worked great. Planes overhead can be loud, though you get used to it, lol. Definitely recommend it.

It's a decent place for the price, with simple, slightly dated rooms that have the essentials. You also get a pool and direct access to the beach. The location is handy for both the pier and airport, and right on the beach. Planes pass overhead during the day and you'll hear them. It didn't bother me, but it's something to know before booking.
