Samui Poshtel

We were so happy here. It felt more like visiting old friends than staying in a hostel, thanks to the super nice, open-minded hosts. The rooms were great, and there was laundry service, motor cycles for rent, and breakfast next to the hostel. Love you guys! Toff & Jagtar

I came with a broken foot and thought I could manage, but realized I couldn't move more than seven steps without a lot of pain. The owner checked on me regularly and brought me food and drinks since I couldn't get them myself. You can tell he really cares and is a very nice person. The room was huge and clean, and the wifi was amazing. It's also a two minute walk from the hospital, which is handy if someone is there.

The Poshtel was okay, but the bicycle setup felt misleading. We were choosing between two Samui hotels, the Poshtel and one by the beach, and picked this one because bikes were advertised as included with the room. The bicycles in the photos turned out to be decorations, even though they looked perfectly usable mounted on the walls. At reception we learned bikes cost 100 baht a day. We rented two, but both had flat tires, and it took an employee 20 minutes to pump them up. Then I found the one I was riding had no working brakes. We asked to swap it, but were told those were the only two bikes they had. If there are only two, they shouldn't be the main selling point. It left us wondering why so many bikes were displayed as decor if we couldn't use them. The room was cheap and clean, though the bed was a little firm. The Poshtel is right by a 7/11, which made snack runs quick. We did laundry at a self-service machine down the street because it was much cheaper than having it done at the Poshtel. Breakfast could be purchased, but we didn't order it. We usually got breakfast from 7/11 and ate most other meals by the beach or at the mall. We mostly used Songthaews to get around. The area is okay, about a 15-minute walk to the beach and 30 minutes to the mall. The route goes along a road with many "special massage" parlors, and I wouldn't recommend walking down it alone at night. For us, the location and the confusing bicycle rental were the main drawbacks.

The owners are very friendly and helpful, and the place is really clean. A quiet spot to stay in Samui. They also rent motorbikes for 200B/day.
