Sazana Villa Resort

The cabins are nice, but the landlord’s attitude ruined the whole stay. We booked one a month ahead. Just before our flight to Thailand, the American landlord called and asked us to arrive a few days later, supposedly because of a water problem. We had to urgently find a hotel for five nights. On check-in day he called again, saying some crazy Ukrainian girl wouldn’t leave our room. What nonsense. We’d already had to check out of the hotel, so we went to Sazana anyway. We arrived at 2:00 PM as arranged, but the cabin was still being cleaned and wasn’t ready. Then he came up with another story: the previous girl had stolen the water heater and hand shower, and they were installing replacements. We didn’t get into the room until 4:00 AM. During our month there, the room was never cleaned. They didn’t change the linens or towels, and we had only one towel. The advertised TV, kettle, and frying pan were missing, so we bought a frying pan ourselves. The grounds were badly neglected, and the pool loungers shown in the pictures were nowhere to be seen, apparently lost in the overgrowth. We were also charged 1,000 baht too much because the landlord counted nights instead of days, as he should have. When we checked out, we asked for it back. He said he’d calculate our electricity bill, even though we hadn’t agreed to an extra meter charge. He never sent a bill, and it seemed he was just avoiding the refund. He caused us a lot of hassle and lied to us.

The owner is quick to respond to any comments or issues, and the grounds are beautifully landscaped. It’s a charming place, but set away from the main routes, so getting there may be difficult without your own transport, like a scooter.
