I left after two days of a four-day booking. The location is quiet, but very remote: the market is far away, and things close in the evening, so you have to order food or go out to eat. It isn’t suitable for families or anyone without a rented bike or car. They also don’t take cards, which is inconvenient given how far away the market is. Booking.com presents this as a five-star hotel, but in my view it’s more like a one- or two-star place. I wouldn’t recommend it. If you want a more central base, I’d suggest Bo Phut or Chaweng. If you’re heading back to Surat Thani, stay near Nathon pier for the ferry. I’m editing this after the owner replied that I booked only two days. I’ve attached proof of the four-day booking. Pig Island and the other sights can be visited from pretty much anywhere, so there’s nothing special about staying here for that. You can rent a scooter for 200-250 baht a day elsewhere, but here they charge 300 baht because it’s remote.

The owners are kind and friendly, and the authentic Italian food on site was fantastic. The room was nice and the street fairly quiet. It’s a short ride to the beach. Probably best for couples or families. I was travelling solo and liked the peace, but there’s no nightlife nearby.

The room was lovely, clean, and boutique-style, with a spacious bathroom. The villa, owned by Mr. Roberto Giacomelli, an Italian man who has lived in Thailand for over 20 years, sits among coconut trees with a pretty garden and swimming pool. The beach is a five-minute drive or a 15-minute walk away. I’d read lots of other reviews and was excited to choose this place. One downside was the Smart TV. It relies on an internet connection, and we couldn’t watch any channels.

Roberto and Giulia, the owners, are welcoming and lovely, as is the staff. The pool was clean, refreshing, and relaxing, and the rooms had air conditioning, comfortable beds, and small fridges. You can rent a motorbike on site for a very good price. Villa Giacomelli is a peaceful little haven in the lush greenery of south-west Koh Samui. Taling Ngam village and the beach are a few minutes away on foot, with restaurants next door and a convenience store about a five-minute walk away. The restaurant serves a wide range of mostly vegetarian food, and its pizzas are probably the best on the island. We had a great stay :)

Bo Phut feels so peaceful and quiet here, with nature all around and the sea just a few hundred meters away. There’s an excellent restaurant and a cocktail bar with billiards on the property. You can rent scooters to explore the island too. Roberto, I hope to see you again soon!
