Koh Tao Cabana Hotel

Our room was farther from the main facilities, so there was some walking, but it gave us more privacy and quiet. The staff were friendly, attentive, and always ready to help, and the shuttle to the pier was handy. The hotel is surrounded by lush plants and sits right by a beautiful beach. Breakfast had a great range of choices, though on a few mornings avocados and bananas ran out and weren't replenished quickly. We had a very pleasant stay.

The food was good, too. We stayed for 4D3N in May and had a really nice time. It's a well-maintained resort at the quieter end of the beach, tucked along the slope. The view is lovely everywhere, whether walking up and down, by the jacuzzi deck, on the beachfront or at the restaurant. Our room was spacious, with basic drinks in the minibar and a capsule coffee machine. My late-night coffee tasted extra good here :) The staff were friendly and helpful. When our kettle was broken, they replaced it very quickly.

We came to Koh Tao Cabana hoping to snorkel nearby for a few days and have a comfortable place to rest. After arriving, we left within an hour. The property didn't resemble what we saw on the website or social media. It looked dated and worn, and the pictures seemed misleading, perhaps taken years ago. The room especially needs updating, with stains on the bed frame and in the bathroom. The beach was much smaller than advertised, crowded, and the water wasn't the clear blue Thailand experience implied online. There were tons of boats right off the beach. At the resort restaurant, there was a noticeable sewage smell. When we asked about excursions, we were handed three sheets of paper with little explanation. At other Thai resorts, staff have actively helped us book and customize experiences. We asked for a partial refund for the unused nights and offered to pay for the night we stayed, but the resort wouldn't work with us. The ferry wasn't leaving until the next day, so we had no options. We've stayed at many Thai resorts at the same or lower prices that were updated, clean, private, and relaxing. This wasn't a four-star experience, and I wouldn't recommend staying here. The resort is misrepresented online.

The room was huge and the air conditioning worked perfectly, which made things comfortable. We also enjoyed the pool, lovely beach, and excellent restaurant. Best of all, every staff member was kind, welcoming, and glad to help with anything we needed. We had an amazing stay and would definitely return. Highly recommended.
