Phi Phi Donchukit Resort

The bathroom was the biggest letdown. The shower seemed meant to be a wet room, but the drain was behind the toilet on the other side, so water sat across the floor all day. There wasn't proper ventilation either, and the walls had mould, which made it feel pretty gross at times. The staff seemed disorganised too. Around 3pm we asked for a drink by the pool and were told everyone was on a break. The restaurant is supposed to be open all day, and there were about eight servers there, so it seemed like breaks could have been staggered. We waited until 5pm, even as other people were being served, and it put us off eating at the restaurant. They also add a 5% service charge and a 7% island charge, an extra 12% on the bill, which we didn't encounter elsewhere. The location is nice and quiet, a little away from the busy main part of Phi Phi, and we had a lovely balcony view. The air con was great in the heat. We also really liked the pool overlooking the bay and spent a lot of time relaxing there. We stayed a few nights and had a pretty good time overall. It's a good fit for a short stay, though there's room for improvement.

The cafe has great food and wonderful service, and the staff were always around to help with anything. The rooms were clean, quiet, and just right for a couple. We especially loved the infinity pool and the cafe views from this corner spot. It's a prime location on the whole island, and I'd stay here again when we come back.

The rooms were fine, and the location was good, set away from the hustle and bustle of phi phi. We did ask for a chair for the room, and they brought one. Service was poor when it came to luggage, though. Even small resorts sent someone to collect bags from the pier, but nobody from Dochhukit came. We had to pay an extra 100 thb to hire someone, and there was no help taking the luggage to the rooms. It was the same at checkout, with no trolley or staff member to help.

We were due to stay here in April, but have now taken the hotel off our itinerary. We know period accidents happen and sheets can be washed. Saying a sheet was “damaged beyond use” because of menstruation is unacceptable and simply untrue. This is humiliating and disrespectful, especially toward women. After this, we decided not to stay there. Outrageous.
