Phu Chaisai Chiang Rai Mountain Resort

The private hiking paths through the jungle were a special part of my stay. Breakfast in the open-air gazebo was lovely too, and I won’t forget how kind and helpful the staff were. From my room’s back porch, the mountain view was stunning, and the resort only became more peaceful and tranquil as I settled in. A serene, one-of-a-kind escape.

The staff are what made our stay at Phu Chaisai so memorable. They were sincere, warm, and kind, and their smiles felt genuine. The atmosphere was friendly without becoming too familiar, and we often felt more like we were staying with friends than at a resort. We were there for ten days in November 2025, traveling on our own with our car. We wanted somewhere peaceful and close to nature, and found much more than a hotel. The traditional Northern Thai design fits the landscape and feels authentic, not staged. The whole place encourages you to slow down. Its rich, carefully tended gardens feel almost botanical, with new plants, flowers, and thoughtful details around every turn. You can tell there’s real knowledge and passion behind them. We stayed in the White Villa with a private pool. It was comfortable and secluded, with lovely views of the hills. The morning mist and late afternoon light made the setting feel almost magical. The restaurant beside the koi pond serves a broad range of well-prepared Thai and international dishes. Our most special meals came from Executive Chef Gae. A few days into the stay, she asked if we’d like to try food from Akha culture, her own heritage. Those dishes were distinctive, full of character, and delicious. Talking with her and other staff also taught us about the Akha people, their traditions, stories, and values. That unexpected cultural insight added so much to the visit. We left grateful for the beauty, kindness, and meaningful moments, and are already looking forward to coming back.

On our two-week honeymoon, my wife and I spent two magical nights in the “Love Nest.” The terrace at sunset is a must, and the restaurant and breakfast were both great. The views and resort felt enchanting, easily among the best places we’ve stayed.

We visited in March, during low season, and there were only us and another couple at the resort. It was pretty and well kept, with a nice pool facing the mountains. Our family cottage was clean, and the master bedroom had an amazing view. The extra bed arrangement was misleading. We paid 1,000 THB, but got bedding, a pillow, and a blanket on the living room couch. The reply from their fb admin had given a different impression, and this wasn’t explained before check-in. Most staff were very nice. There was a 10% service charge on everything, including clothes from the butik. We mostly helped ourselves because nobody was around for 10-15 minutes. At breakfast, one staff member taking orders seemed unhappy to be there. She didn’t greet us or smile, and mostly just nodded when we spoke. When we mentioned the service, she said she was sick and couldn’t smile or make an effort, and that she was the only staff member working that morning. There were only eight guests including us, so it seemed like too much for her. She was a little more apologetic after we confronted her. We also waited almost 40 minutes for our eggs because the kitchen forgot our order, even though we were the only table left by then.
