Hmong Hilltribe Lodge

This is a lovely spot for a quiet mountain and rainforest break, about an hour’s drive from Chiang Mai. I liked sitting on my private balcony with a book, or just listening to the wildlife and taking in the views. You can also walk along the main road in the morning to see the orange farms, visit the sheep farm and petting zoo, or buy fruit and vegetables from the friendly local farmers. There’s a short trekking trail behind the Lodge, and the staff are happy to show you where it starts and give you a map. A swim in the pool is a nice way to end the day. The one downside is that, because the lodge is in the rainforest and built in a traditional style, the beds and bedding can feel cold and damp, even though they’re made to western standards. The staff are amazing.

The silence, fresh air and mild climate gave me the best night’s sleep I’ve had since arriving in Thailand. It’s a lovely place with a good feeling to it. The rooms are simple and rustic, but spotless and have what you need. Surrounded by lush nature and its sounds, I felt calm and happy right away.

I was charmed by the named trees and the big swings around the property. The staff were so friendly and helpful, lending us an adapter and suggesting a walk. The nature sounds were lovely to fall asleep to, and our stroll up to the local village was a nice rural experience during our two-night stay. The rooms are in large huts with four rooms and a shared area in each. Everything felt traditional and clean, with what we needed. As we were leaving our room, we were surprised to see a family of cows by their watering hole. Having your own car would make it easier to get there and explore around.

I came here to relax and feel close to nature, not for bling bling. Everything is made from natural materials, and it was one of my best experiences in Thaïland. A very peaceful stay and a great reset for the mind 😇🙏🏼
