The Beverly Hills

The suite was big and the bed was comfortable, and I enjoyed my one-night stay. But upkeep seems to be lagging, and some spots in the room weren't very clean. The place felt worn with age, even though my first impression of the room was okay. Check-in was friendly but impersonal. The bathroom was a good size, but the water was either cold or much too hot, with no in-between. The air conditioner was pretty noisy. It may once have been a very good hotel, but I can't rate it above three stars.

I've stayed twice, and the jacuzzi bath failed both times. I thought the first time was just bad luck, but now I feel we've been cheated. Why rent out a room with a defective bath? You'd expect them to know it would leave a customer fed up. They didn't offer a refund, just a room change late in the evening when it was too inconvenient. Ridiculous poor management, and I'm very disappointed.

The hot tub in each room and the complimentary bathrobes are nice touches, and the rooms are clean and roomy. Most rooms don't have much of a view. The water system is the letdown: the shower swings between scalding and freezing, which is why I can't give it five stars.

A great deal in a handy location. The rooms felt modern, roomy, and really pleasant.
