Grand Hill Resort and Spa

There’s a welcome drink, and the cat by the front gate is quite the mascot. The public areas and parking were acceptable. Resting here was simple but fine. The renovation looks good and the room may suit younger guests, but it’s not very senior friendly. There’s no separate shower area, so the bathroom gets slippery when you shower. We had to use a dining chair for our senior family members, and the marble in the bathroom felt slippery and unsafe afterward. Breakfast was basic, but fair for the price.

The pool was good, but service was disappointing. They ran out of ice and had a staff member take me on the back of a scooter to buy some myself at a seven eleven. The place looked pretty tired, and there were hardly any guests when we stayed on a Saturday night. It felt so empty it could make a creepy movie set. The hotel is on a busy road, and you can hear traffic with the windows shut, though it wasn’t too loud. There wasn’t much nearby either.

The location is handy for visiting local sights, including the mountain top temple overlooking the city and the start of the Chao Phraya river. The lobby was nice, and the staff were polite. The rooms could use attention. Ours smelled musty, the shower doors were hard to shut, and the TV stopped working while we were watching. The rooms were old and showed a lot of wear. It’s not a bad hotel, but the rooms need work.

The hotel, breakfast, and staff were all fine. There weren’t any restaurants or convenience stores within walking distance, so you need a car or taxi to get anywhere.
