Koh Pu Villa

Our bungalows were spotlessly clean and really spacious, with a big fridge and a nice bath. The food was good, and the wine was tasty, especially for Thailand. There are only two days left in our stay, but we’re sure to come back. It’s a wonderfully unusual place, good for relaxing or getting work done, with very good internet. Because of the tides, there isn’t much of a beach, but the private pool and shared pool are more than enough to cool off. The staff are incredibly helpful and friendly. Thanks for hosting us, highly recommend!

I loved the peaceful feel here, even though the area is quiet and there isn’t much going on. My room was very clean, and the private pool was a nice way to cool off. There’s a shared pool too, though I didn’t see anyone use it. In front of the room is mangrove forest, rather than the beach I expected from other guests’ photos. You can rent a kayak or scooter to explore the island. The scooters are a bit old. Breakfast is available at the hotel, and I recommend the pancakes or Thai rice soups. The staff were attentive and friendly, and even gave us welcome drinks, which feels rare these days. If you don’t speak Thai, Google Translate is probably the best way to communicate, as the staff understand only a few words of English. The only downside is the dirt path from the accommodation to the main road. It’s the only way out, and I wouldn’t take it on a scooter unless you’re skilled.

The staff more than made up for the lack of a sandy beach. They were attentive, picked up white wine for us in town, and drove us around. The food was great too. The property is right by the water and has lovely private pools for cooling off, but there’s no sandy shore, which is a major drawback. I’d recommend renting scooters to explore the island and visit its other beaches.

We came here for some quiet after a few busy days in Ao Nang, and found exactly that. We toured most of the island on scooters and saw other places charging three times as much and hosting far more people. Beaches are an easy 10 minutes down the road. The place is beside mangroves rather than a proper beach, but at low tide you can walk through them straight to the sea. We saw monkeys every morning. The four private bungalows had lovely rooms and a private pool. We were the only couple there when we arrived. The family-run staff were fantastic and couldn’t do enough for us. They picked us up in a truck from the longtail at Coconut Beach, found us mopeds, and cooked dinner. Prices were great too, not inflated like many other island places. Having seen the alternatives, we’re glad we chose this one. We liked the peace so much that we booked a couple more days. This is an honest review from someone who’s travelled around much of Thailand. Other reviews? Some people will never be happy. Pura Vida baby.
