Krabi Sunset Village

The internet was excellent, as advertised, and the pool was a highlight. We had booked four nights but left after two because we got bored, even though we'd known it was remote and had a car to visit places like the emerald pool. The unit's initial price was reasonable, but electricity at 8 baht per kWh adds up, especially with old halogen downlights and aging air conditioners. The official Thai price is 4.5 baht per kWh. The living room had only an oversized, sweaty couch and a painting. There was no dishwashing liquid for cleaning dishes, despite the expectation that the bond would be returned when we left. Basic things like dish soap, regular soap, tourist information, or table games could make the place more welcoming for farang visitors. The restaurant might have been a nice addition, but several of us got sick after eating there. The menu had few options, and in our two weeks, that was the only time the four of us got sick, even though we'd eaten local food throughout the trip. The bed was typically hard for Thailand, and two of us each found a brown Roach. The owner could take on some constructive feedback and improve things. This could then be good value, and people might happily pay a little more.

The restaurant food was okay, and the place was nice and clean. It does feel pretty remote, though. The nearest grocery store, Tesco in Krabi, is a 30-minute drive away.
