DATE: 20251229 NAME: Siboya Bungalows For such a remote spot, the value is exceptional. We’ve stayed here many times and think it’s the best hidden gem in southern Thailand. Shh, keep it secret! Getting here isn’t easy, but that’s part of why it’s stayed off the beaten path. It’s a very rural area, with only the resort restaurant and a few tiny local shops for shopping. The staff are always friendly and helpful, and treat you like family. The bungalow options range from small but well-equipped rooms with air conditioning to places without air conditioning that have mosquito nets. Wi-Fi is available in the restaurant. The food selection is fantastic, and we think it’s the best restaurant in southern Thailand. There’s no entertainment, just time to socialize or enjoy some solitude. It’s a remote island with endless sunsets and beaches. These aren’t postcard-style beaches, but if you take a long walk, you may see only your own footprints.

We came for several nights and enjoyed the place more with each passing day. The food was delicious and fairly priced, and the staff were extremely friendly and clearly cared about our wellbeing. People across the rest of the island were welcoming too. It’s a beautiful, peaceful escape from the tourism of southern Thailand, right by the beach, and very good value. We have plenty more good things we could say, but we’ll let you experience it yourself. Highly recommend if you’re after a quiet resort in a lovely setting.

It’s a quiet place away from the crowds, with a great restaurant and a wonderful team who want to make your stay memorable. Bring enough cash to pay for the whole stay, since there’s no ATM on the island. A fabulous establishment, probably the best place I’ve stayed in southern Thailand.

Update, Feb/25: It’s still an incredible experience. The newer bungalows are a great addition, with hot rain showers, air conditioning, comfortable beds, nice furnishings, and views of the water. This kind of place is getting hard to find. The accommodation is right on the beach, and the biggest decision of the day is what to have for lunch. People looking for a beach to sunbathe on may miss how wonderful it is to walk for miles along the uninterrupted shore. It’s great for families, too. The shallow beach is safe for young children and gives them hours of exploring. I honestly can’t think of anything bad on the restaurant menu. Enjoy!

Siboya Bungalows has been a highlight of my travels in Thailand for many years. While the rest of southern Thailand keeps getting busier, this place stays peaceful and quiet. Well worth visiting.
