Shambave Pai Resort

The cottages were comfortable, with very good beds and quality linens and towels. Breakfast was simple and fresh, and we really enjoyed staying here. Shambave is a lovely little resort on the edge of Pai, owned by Dirk and Noot. It was very dry when we visited, but you could tell the gardens are cared for and must look beautiful after the rains. Dirk also offers rides to the walking street in his electric golf car.

I loved the breakfasts, especially how they were tailored for my vegan diet, with plenty of fresh fruit and vegetables, plus olive oil and olives. The owner's mum even kindly brought me fruit in the afternoon. The resort is very quiet and stylish, peaceful without being flashy, and feels in tune with its surroundings. I spent a week at Shambave mostly relaxing on the terrace of my villa/hut, which was different from what many people come to Pay for. The free shuttle to the town centre meant I could still get to the evening entertainment whenever I wanted, including live music and quirky cafes for chai and coffee. It was a very relaxing stay, and I had wonderful conversations with co-owner Derek, who shared stories from his life and thoughts on how the world is set up. Thank you!

We stayed in the family villa with its own pool, and it worked well for my family. The place is a little gem, very peaceful and relaxing. Breakfast was pretty terrible, but Pai town is close, with at least 20 places where you can get an excellent breakfast.

The resort itself is absolutely gorgeous, with beautiful mountain views above Mo Phaeng waterfall. It’s a luxury boutique hotel with 14 villas, less than 2 kilometers from Pai city centre. Unfortunately, the view on one side is now blocked by the ugly Beachclub Waterpark, owned by some Australian. I hope that place doesn’t last long.
