Arantarakiri Resort Khaoyai

I wish I’d stayed longer. The garden was my favourite part, and in the evening you can hear all sorts of animals. The villas are modern and lovely, and the place is beautiful. Everything was clean, the bathroom was spacious, and the shower worked well. The pool was large, clean, and nice too.

It’s incredibly quiet, with only the babbling river to hear, and the resort is handy for local attractions and restaurants. We brought our dog, who loved it, though the 500 baht per night pet charge seemed excessive to me. The villas are perfect, the pool is great, and the staff are brilliant and friendly. On the first day, when the resort was quiet, breakfast was served on our balcony. On day two, with more guests, it was a buffet. Both were good, and there’s a great coffee machine. Loved the place.

The garden is beautiful, and the staff are friendly. Rooms are nice, big, and clean.

The first day brought two power cuts, one around 4-5 PM and another at 4 AM. We woke in the middle of the night feeling hot because the weather outside wasn’t cool, and we couldn’t get a proper night’s sleep. The air conditioner kept switching on and off while we sweated. We called reception, but it seemed there was no backup generator. They said we’d have to wait for the government to repair the main power supply. I regret not choosing a 4-5 star hotel instead; our Khao Yai trip would have been more comfortable and restful.
