Lala Mukha Tented Resort Khao Yai

The resort sits by a main road, so it isn’t quiet, even though it gives the impression of being remote. They hand out earplugs at check-in, and I first assumed they were for wildlife. At night, though, Thai live music from nearby bars carries into the property. If you want peace and quiet, this isn’t the place. The staff were pretty unhelpful. They had no suggestions for things to do around the area, no tour desk, and didn’t seem keen to help.

The bad stay carried on after I arrived: the TV didn’t work, and there was no hot water in the shared bathroom. I’d paid over 4,000 baht for an old tent without its own bathroom. Before even going inside, I tried to cancel, but they said a refund would take a month. That made me worry I might never get the money back, and in fact… A few days earlier, I’d paid 4,000 baht for a luxury room at Pullman Khaolak, which I highly recommend, and 3,000 baht for a luxury room at centara Korat, which was great too. I’d also paid only 1,800 baht for a much better “glamping” stay. Those comparisons show how overpriced this resort is.

We found it a great place to relax, and Khao Yai National Park is only minutes away, right near the entrance. The grounds are spacious and well organized, the staff friendly and well trained, and our room was clean and comfortable. The price was really reasonable. There were plenty of Asian breakfast dishes, though the bakery and dairy choices were limited and could be improved. I’d highly recommend it if you’re visiting the park.

The views are beautiful, and I especially liked the walkways and the pool. The place has an oasis kind of feel, with a modern, stylish look. One of the best options in the area.
