Splendid Hotel @ Khaoyai

The room was in extremely poor shape. The toilet kept leaking and wouldn't flush properly, and on the fifth floor the water pressure was so low that showering took ages. We reported it at the front desk, but nothing was fixed. I wouldn't recommend this hotel to anyone. There are plenty of choices in Khao Yai.

The stay was peaceful and quiet, and I had a good experience overall. My favorite feature at Splendid hotel was the balcony facing the forest. Even though the room was on the ground floor, I could open it in the morning for fresh mountain air. The room was spacious too, with a sofa, coffee table, and huge double bed. The bathroom fittings are old and rusty and need replacing. Water also escapes the shower area into the rest of the bathroom because the rubber seals have worn out. It would have been perfect if the fittings were repaired or replaced.

We had a bad time sleeping all three nights, and I won't come back at that expensive price. We changed rooms three times during our three-night stay because the AC was faulty, the shower fittings were loose or faulty, and water was leaking near the sink. One room also had a very dirty kettle, with a layer of wax or dirt when we tried to boil water. There was no iron for my clothes. The rooms felt haunted. Our TV turned itself on three times in the middle of the night while we were asleep. There were loud knocking sounds from the wall and a man speaking, even though no one else was staying on that floor. We also experienced sleep paralysis. The staff couldn't communicate very well in English, which could make getting problems resolved difficult. The uncle who looks after the parking area was quite friendly and helpful.

We stayed for two nights. The room was decent in size and relatively clean, and the breakfast tasted decent, but the food wasn't even lukewarm. Our towels had a funny smell, the bathroom mat had obvious stains, and in one of our rooms the toilet kept running after a flush. The security guard was rude, unfriendly, and biased. He wouldn't let us park in one spot, even though we later saw another car parked in that same place.
