Yataa Spa And Resort

The view is incredible, the air conditioning works really well, and the staff are friendly. There’s also an incredible restaurant right across the street. We had such a good time on this beautiful island that I can’t rate the hotel below five stars, and I’d stay again. A lot of the guests seemed to be older German couples staying for weeks or months. The hotel does have its issues: the pool is green and unusable, the beds feel hard and springy, and the restaurant here isn’t good.

We loved our stay at this beautiful beachfront resort. It’s a great place to sit and watch the sunset. The one thing we’d change is breakfast. It’s free, but the only option is two eggs and toast.

Update 2025: it’s more or less closed, though rooms are still offered for rent. Don’t expect extra services. Yataa gets only minimal upkeep from the manager of the resort next door. It may be one of the poshest places on Sukorn Island, covering about a third of the beach with midrange bungalows at hefty prices. The restaurant is often empty, but the food is good when there are enough guests. The pool is tiny, and the beach chairs and umbrellas are worn out. There’s a YouTube video offering the place for sale, so I wouldn’t expect improvements before it changes hands.

The hotel is beautiful and incredibly peaceful. The island has friendly people and still feels untouched by mass tourism. Over several days, we enjoyed the generosity of the family who runs the place and shared lovely moments with them. We learned to cook Thai specialties, visited nearby islands and ate at their restaurants. This place deserves more than five stars, and we can only recommend this little paradise.
