Buadara Resort

Breakfast was generous, tasty, and good, and the service was good too. The elderly owner is lovely. It's a peaceful, relaxing spot surrounded by nature, though the resort is quite old and many things have been renovated in keeping with its age. To swim in the sea, walk 150-200 meters to the beach, where natural rocks make for a different kind of beauty. If you have a car, Thung Wua Laen has clearer water.

The grounds have lots of trees and welcome shade, and the shared pool is okay. The Chonchom Room has a good bed and cool air conditioning, though the door is a little hard to open. The room is in average condition, neither old nor new. Its bathroom is separate, drains poorly, and gets slippery where water pools. A curtain should be added to the glass shower enclosure because you're visible while showering. Service was poorly managed for the high room price: we were handed the room without a key, even after asking if one was there. We had to leave at 7:30 AM for breakfast, but were told it wasn't ready even though the food was ready to eat. It's right on the beach and you can swim, though the water isn't very beautiful because of all the rocks. There are some nice spots for photos.

The staff were friendly and helpful, even bringing a kettle to our room when we asked. Breakfast was generous, varied, and delicious, and the kids loved feeding the fish in the pond. They gave us food for them. The mattresses, pillows, linen, and towels were good, and the shower and toilet worked properly; shampoo, conditioner, and soap were provided. Still, the place has fallen into disrepair from what must have once been a nice spot. The large pool was empty, the smaller one under renovation, and the beach hadn't been cleared of branches, coconuts, sticks, and other seafood for a long time. The cabins seemed abandoned. A strong mothball-like smell came from the closet and filled the small room, though we could sleep with it shut. Out there were swarms of large ants, about 1.5-2 cm. They weren't aggressive or coming inside, but I didn't want to step on them. Outlets were scarce. Internet didn't work in one cabin, but it was easy to connect to another. In one cabin, the air conditioner couldn't control the vertical airflow, so I turned it horizontally away from the bed. Overall, it's livable.

The staff were great and the service was excellent, but I was really disappointed with the VIP room. The pool was full of leaves and twigs, and the air conditioning didn't work. We couldn't open the windows either. The mattress felt old for 3,000 baht, and the bathroom and fixtures were very old with a strong musty smell. My boyfriend and I couldn't breathe or sleep for more than 20 minutes, so we had to check out. I'm usually easygoing about accommodation, but this was too much. If they renovated it to match the pictures, I think they'd get many more customers.
