Cholchan Pattaya Beach Resort

The staff are nice, but I didn’t realize how far the older hotel was from town when I booked. It’s 30 minutes at best, FYI. I only tried the day menu, not a full dinner, and it was average. A bit farther along the newly built beach promenade, there are some restaurants by the beach that could be decent, though pricey. They have a great fire show every night at 7 pm.

The staff and service were pretty good, but the rooms have seen better days. Our closet door was so old and rotted that it fell off when I tried to open it. There aren’t many electrical outlets, and none are near the bed. The mattress was rigid.

The hotel is clean, the staff are very friendly, and the pool area is quite okay. It’s cheap, too. Those are the only three good things I can say. The place is outdated and needs renovation, and it’s definitely not what I’d expect from a 4-star hotel. It’s far from everything. “Beach resort” is just in the name: there’s no beach in front. You can walk about 10 minutes to a nearby beach, but there are no sunbeds. I wouldn’t stay again.

We stayed in a junior suite, and the view was amazing. They decorated it for our honeymoon on request. The suite and sea faced northwest, so we could see part of the sunset. There’s a walking path beside the beach for a stroll and some sea breeze. The evenings felt lively and energetic, while the property itself stayed calm and quiet, with no loud music or outside disturbance. Room service was decent and mid-priced, though the food selection was limited. The property is beautiful and huge, and the staff are quite friendly. Because there are so many rooms and guests, service can be a little slow, and we had a longer walk to our room. The pool was always full of people, children, and families. On our first visit to Pattaya, we realized it would have been better to stay near either Jomtien or Pattaya beach for the local vibe and public transportation. This place was a little far from both, so we used Grab or Bolt to get to attractions. That was fine, since taxis are very cheap in Pattaya. Still, it was a great experience.
