Vareena Palace Hotel

The room was pretty nice, and it's handy that the hotel has car parking, but the place doesn't feel much like a four-star hotel. It isn't luxurious, and the building seems a bit dated and in need of a refresh. Walking around reception felt uncomfortable because the area was cold and dark.

The breakfast was ordinary, and the service from the office was more of a problem. When I asked for poached eggs, I got boiled eggs in their shells that were very undercooked. The mini bread rolls were good, as was the coffee I made myself. The hotel was clean and tidy, and the room was large, but the beds were so hard that I struggled to sleep and woke with a sore back.

The view from the 8th floor is very good, but the parking situation caused serious trouble. The basement entrance slope is extremely steep, with no warning signs, and my car sills were damaged while I tried to get in. The damage cost 5,000 baht, and there is very little parking space. I can't recommend the hotel because of the parking and damage. The pool is small and no towels were provided. The air conditioning takes a long time to cool the room. The shower flow is weak, there's no hot water, and water leaks across the floor instead of draining into the bath.

I couldn't sleep because the rooms aren't insulated and are very noisy. Calls to guests start early in the morning and continue late into the night, and the sound in my room was like a doorbell. Staff were aggressive and unfriendly, and wouldn't help when I had a problem. They accused me of being a thief and tried to charge me for something I hadn't done. There is no gym, and the pool closes at 18.00. This hotel is a complete scam and the worst I've stayed at in Thailand. Avoid it at all costs!
