Khao Sok Nature Resort

We loved the elephant sanctuary trip, which was the highlight of our holiday and one of its best days. It was easy to arrange activities through Khao Sok Nature Resort, and breakfast was included. They also serve lunch and dinner from 12:00 to 8:00 pm, so there was no need to worry about meals or logistics. The tree houses offer a real glamping stay, with air conditioning and a private en-suite bathroom while still being immersed in nature. We fell asleep to forest sounds and woke to lush greenery. Everyone was kind and welcoming, and the peaceful, authentic atmosphere felt deeply restorative. Khao Sok Nature Resort is truly heaven on earth, and an unforgettable experience.

During our transfer to Phuket, we accidentally left a bag behind. We contacted the resort, and they quickly found it and sent it by courier. Just a few hours later, it reached our new accommodation. The staff were extremely helpful and spoke very good English. Staying in the tree houses among nature made for an absolutely wonderful, magical experience. Truly outstanding service.

The treehouse in the jungle was lovely, the staff were kind, and the dogs were cool. But the air conditioning was so loud I couldn't sleep. We arrived at the confirmed time to find everything closed and our booking apparently forgotten. The staff sorted it out nicely after we woke them, sorry guys. After the first night, they said the cheaper rooms were gone and wanted us to pay more for an expensive one. We had agreed on about 150 USD, but they were asking for around 300 USD. We discussed it and paid the agreed price. Then they said our booked room wasn't available and offered a different hotel in the middle of town, or an upgrade for more money. When we firmly said that wasn't our problem, they somehow found the cheaper rooms and let us stay in the one we'd booked. It's not about the money, it's that a hotel shouldn't feel like negotiating at a Turkish bazaar, trying to squeeze every baht out of you. Breakfast is free, but if you can, eat somewhere else. It wasn't very good. The place itself is great, but the owner gives the impression of not understanding hospitality, even if they did eventually honor the agreement.

We were very satisfied with our stay. Monkeys, birds, and butterflies could be watched from our terrace, and the elevated units sit a few meters above the ground, separated from the wildlife below. It's a peaceful, secluded jungle retreat, away from the tourist crowds, with a distinctive raised design. The unpaved access road from the main road is about 800 meters and bumpy, but the quiet setting is a big advantage. The service from Mr. Tee, the owner/manager, and the team was excellent and personal. We'd booked a lake boat trip without transport, so Mr. Tee arranged for his nephew to drive us, even though he offers competing excursions. That thoughtful help reflected the care we received. For future trips, I'd book transport through Mr. Tee rather than pre-booking with services like 12Go, since he offers competitive rates and personal support. Room quality is a bit of a luck of the draw. Our family of four had two standard rooms with queen beds at the same price, but standards differed noticeably. The parents' room had a beautiful wooden interior, a proper bathroom, and real windows. The kids' room had simpler furnishings and shutters instead of windows. Basic rooms don't have proper windows. We had a power outage on the first night, which made it uncomfortably warm without air conditioning in the humid jungle. Electricity was back by morning and stayed on for the rest of our visit. Sleeping in an air-conditioned jungle hut is much more comfortable than without power. The resort delivers an authentic nature experience, though room standards vary and outages can happen.
