The internet was the main annoyance: you had to connect through several modems that didn't always work, with a separate access code for each phone or computer, and access was limited rather than lasting 24 hours or a full day. I visited for 5 days in December 2019. The old hotel is still good, with a large room, useful work tables, and a respectable breakfast. From the room there was a good view over the city, mosque, and traffic. Staff were friendly, the water was warm, and the aircon worked well.

We arrived late at night and chose this hotel because it was easy to spot even from a distance. It's quite old, and there are probably nicer hotels in the neighborhood, but it wasn't bad. Close to halal food restaurants.

The room was large and clean, and the price felt fair. It’s also an easy walk to the train station and the night market for food.

The staff were friendly, and the hygiene was good. It was great having access to the beach.

For what it costs, it’s a good option, though there was a bit of noise.
