The free bikes made it easy to get around the island, and the place itself was quiet and welcoming. Breakfast was eggs and toast, already available there. They also said they'd cook if you brought ingredients, though we didn't use that option since there's a good family restaurant nearby. It's a rustic kind of stay, and the bikes are rustic too. If you know the island, it fits the experience really well. Staying here was amazing.

The rooms are good value, and it's such a peaceful place to stay. I wish Bangkok had more places like this. The guy at the counter, whose name I forgot, was especially kind and helpful. Be sure to check out the local markets beyond the "floating market," which doesn't actually float, and don't be nervous about taking the ferry. There's a great little outdoor bar just up the street on the corner. They serve street food in the daytime, then have live music at night. You can smoke a joint or have a drink while meat is grilling. I can't ask for more. I'd review the bar too, but it isn't on maps. Tell them Jeff sent you.

There are free bikes and a generous Thai breakfast served in the Sala from 7-30am. The old teak houses, built in a classic style, sit together around a peaceful landscaped courtyard, each with its own sitting area. Everything was spotless and wonderfully quiet. Staying in this old Siam village tucked into the jungle, still in Bangkok, was unforgettable. A little piece of Siamese heaven. Don't miss this gem!

The breakfast is simple Thai food, enough to get the day started. Three of us like the rice porridge at Homestay, but we also bring cereal, a little fresh milk, and butter for a taste of home. The small, traditional breakfast area makes for a relaxed start before a day of riding bikes. We've stayed here with our kids a few times. With a couple of mattresses on the floor, all four of us fit okay in the room. There are larger rooms, or for another 1000 baht they can sleep right next door. Bikes come with the room and make the nearby market easy to reach. The rooms are in traditional Thai house style, with a lovely feel and gardens full of hanging plants and potted tropical greenery. The friendly staff keep everything well maintained and are happy to offer advice or help.
