Hug Inn Phrae

We were greeted as soon as we drove into the good-sized car park. It’s a welcoming family-run inn, nicely designed and decorated, with clean, comfortable rooms. Breakfast was lovely: I chose the American option with toast, then helped myself to the rest from the buffet. The friendly staff gave me a local map with sights to see and coffee shops to try. I highly recommend this place.

The owner was helpful with information about Phrae, and we’d happily stay here again if we return. It’s close enough to walk to the city center, while the street itself stays quiet. We loved the hotel’s peaceful feel and beautiful decor.

I didn’t run into the noise problems mentioned in earlier reviews. The hotel is in a quiet area, with town an easy walk away. The design, decor, and fittings are all beautiful.

I didn’t hear anything from Phrae prison during my two-night stay. It’s across from or beside the hotel, but the walls are very high. From here it’s a walk to the Friday night market, and a four-minute drive up the road to the Saturday night market. The staff were very friendly and spoke English very well. Breakfast was very good, and the bed and pillows were comfortable. It’s a fairly new, modern-style hotel, with plenty of electrical outlets. The wiring runs in metallic pipes along the walls instead of being hidden inside them. I’d definitely recommend it.
