Suan Glang Na Homestay

The surroundings were alright, but I won't be coming back. The room was tiny and hot as a sauna, since the air conditioning didn't cool it at all. The beds were uncomfortable, and the construction seemed flawed. I ordered steak for dinner, and it was rubbery.

A small, charming homestay with a distinctive feel. It's set beautifully among rice fields, with mountain views at sunrise and sunset. The owners and staff were welcoming, and the steak house next door turned out to be surprisingly good.

Bunny and her team made us a lovely vegetarian dinner on both nights, and Jerome's brownie was very nice. I'm Swiss, so I know our chocolate. The owners were friendly and accommodating, and we loved our unplanned two-night stay. The design is beautiful, and locals and expats meet here, so it seems to be one of the top places in Phrae. We were surprised by the negative reviews. Bugs, rain, and heat can happen in the Thai bush. If you don't like that, stay home. We loved being here. Thanks heaps.

The kind couple running the place are great, but I had repeated problems with a lady who seemed to be their "side kick" and had an attitude. As an old customer, I expected different treatment. I was charged 2K for a room with joined twin beds, but when I said I didn't want breakfast, why wouldn't she check with the owners about a discount? I also asked for a topper for the twin bed, and she didn't arrange it. Then we were told that because they had lots of food orders from 6pm, we had to eat before 6pm. I'd also asked for extra whole wheat bread at breakfast because the usual amount only feeds a child. She said there'd be a charge, but the kind owner lady didn't charge us. Why not ask the owner before answering customers? This lady needs basic customer relations and management training before more old customers stop going. I'm one example.
