Wiang Kaew Hotel

The room was very nice and clean, and the staff were friendly. They offered free rides wherever we needed to go, and there are also bikes available at no charge. We had to taxi or bike to Nan's temples and food spots because the hotel isn't close to anything. Still, I'd call it the best hotel in Nan.

The carp pond in front of the room was my favorite detail, and the decor is lovely. Breakfast has a good range of choices, though some dishes weren't replenished, so I'd go early. The mattress felt a little hard, and controlling the hot water was difficult.

A handy place for a clean room and a night's rest. The mattress was rock hard and uncomfortable. It was pleasantly cool at night, which made it a shame that the rooms have no windows to let you enjoy the weather.

There were a few things I appreciated: breakfast was good, drinking water was provided, the hot water worked, and the sound insulation was good. The free shared airport transfer in both directions was useful too. But I struggled to think of any more positives. I asked the hotel chat if they could suggest a tour guide, and they immediately sent the number of a friend. We paid the rate for a tourist guide, but this person was really just a driver. They didn't understand English or know the area's history, and picked very basic places to visit. The room was huge but empty and uncomfortable, with bulky wooden furniture, no tea, and a very hard mattress. Cleaning was lacking: on the second day, a dirty towel was left in the sink and hair was on the shower floor. There's no restaurant or even a small bar, and no tea or coffee. The grounds are large but unattractive, dirty, and uncomfortable, with a dull, forgettable style. The golf cart was very dirty, and the large air conditioner was noisy.
