The Pearl of Naithon

Traffic outside was insane, like Manila or some other overpopulated place, and construction kept going nonstop. Kids were constantly yelling by the pool, which made it hard to enjoy a holiday. The place used to be a nice condo, but the recent influx of Russian tourists has, in my view, ruined this place in particular and Phuket generally. The apartments are aging, with many poorly maintained despite the high prices. We had problems with the AC and basic plumbing, plus a musty abandoned-tropical-house smell. It feels well past its prime. Next time we'll stay somewhere else. Tropical paradise no longer.

There's no room service for food, and after 11 pm the shops, cafes and restaurants are all closed. Grab is useful if you get hungry late. The beach is beautiful and the water is probably the best around, but there's no infrastructure there, no sunbeds or similar, so it's not the place for a comfortable beach setup. These apartments suit people happy to go with towels. On a bike, Bang Tao is 20 minutes downhill, or about 30 minutes uphill past the airport.

The sea was crystal clear and great for snorkelling, and there were plenty of restaurants within walking distance. The pool was fantastic, the place is right on the beach, and people were extremely friendly. There's so much to do close by.

Rooms are spacious and well equipped, and the staff are lovely. The entrance and pool are beautiful, and everything is well kept. The Pearl of Naithon is a hidden gem, directly across the road from the beach.
