The Neenlawat Riverside Resort & Spa

We stayed in a family villa right by the pool. It's a cute little resort near Surat, quiet and handy for a stop on the way to or from the Islands or Krabi. The staff and service were very friendly, attentive, and caring. You can fish on the resort grounds, and the restaurant was good, with a surprisingly wide choice of beer and wine. The pool is nice and well kept, and the massage was decent. It's a good spot for a stopover, though I wouldn't stay for longer. With the check-in and checkout times, you only get 19 hours, not even a full day, and by 08:45 the cleaning staff were waiting outside our room for us to leave. Still, at under 1000 baht a night, it's worth it.

My bungalow, no. 9, was like a sauna. I'm used to hot weather, but even with the air conditioning on full and the fan running, the room still felt like an oven. It gets the western sun. The hotel is down a small road, but we could still hear lots of passing vehicles. I'd avoid a bungalow near the roadside.
