Space 59 Ratchaburi

Book well ahead if you're coming during high season, since this place fills up quickly. It's a decent budget hotel in a prime spot in Ratchaburi city center. The free breakfast package is worth getting, and I think you'll be satisfied.

I liked the cute room design, especially the materials made from waste products that were broken or couldn't be used together. The air conditioner got nice and cold, and the bathroom was spacious, with wet and dry areas separated. The view was good too, especially from room 506. 😊

I was sorry I couldn't add two more days to my stay, though it's no surprise this hotel books up quickly. The premium suite felt more like a private apartment than a hotel room, with curios on the shelves and thoughtful decorations. There was a large living room with a comfortable couch and three chairs, plus a bedroom with two reasonably comfortable king size beds. The well-appointed kitchen was large and fully furnished, but it lacked a microwave, which would have been very useful. My favorite hotel in Ratchaburi.

I stayed here in 2015, and it was one of the worst nights of my life. A man on a motorcycle came up to me right outside the hotel and tried to grab me and pull me onto the bike, apparently to kidnap me. I got away and ran into the hotel, but he had ripped my shirt open. I was terrified and told the front desk what had happened. They didn't help at all: they didn't call the police, arrange first aid, contact a hospital or security, or even offer me a warm drink or a meal. The man escaped, and I had to go to my room alone. This is the worst hotel I've ever stayed in.
