For a room this cheap, it’s pretty much what you’d expect. The room and bathroom were okay, nothing special, and it could get noisy in the hotel. The owner seemed nice, though a couple of things felt odd. When we arrived, she joked to another Thai guy about how tall we were. I laughed and said I knew she was joking about me, and she stopped all of a sudden. I don’t think she expected me to hear her talking about me. We’d confirmed by email that checkout was at 12. On the day, she came to our room and said we needed to leave soon. When I asked if checkout was at 12, she said 11. I mentioned the email, and then she changed it to 11:30. I think a new customer was coming and she wanted us out. It was worth it for the low price, but I’d pick somewhere else for a longer stay.

The location was okay, though it’s a good 30-minute walk to the beach. You’ll probably want to rent a motorbike anyway, since driving around Phuket is beautiful. Our room felt bare, with tile floors, no rugs or wall decorations, and a plain bathroom. It didn’t feel cozy, though that may have been specific to the rooms we had. The whole room needs updating, and the cleaning staff could do a better job on the bathroom. The bed was big but firm. We’ve stayed at a few other places nearby that were more comfortable and closer to the beach. It’s fine if you just need somewhere to hunker down, but make sure the price is reasonable or see the rooms first.

The location worked perfectly for exploring the beach and the row of shops and restaurants. I found it safe and clean enough to feel comfortable, and the pool was relaxing. Reception was excellent when the receptionist was there.

For a budget hotel, everything worked as it should. The rooms are a good size, the service is good, and there’s a decent pool. It’s in an area of Phuket I’d call excellent.
