Rawai Loft by Holiplanet

The room was modern and fine, but the price was far too high for what you get. They asked for another 500 b for cleaning when we arrived, then charged us 460 b for electricity at checkout, even though we used the air conditioning for only four short nights. We know electricity is expensive here, but in Europe we pay more per kWH and wouldn’t get to 15,- euro in four days. The price didn’t feel honest. There were a few bugs, but I didn’t have the energy to argue, and the owner always gets the final word when you rent, of course. There were worms on the bathroom wall too. The huge building blocks the so-called mountain view, so there’s hardly a view at all. There was no security or staff at the entrance during our four days. This is an Airbnb, not a hotel, so keep that in mind. The pool is in front of some condos, and it feels like you’re swimming in someone else’s pool while people watch. When the air conditioning starts or stops, the electricity flickers on and off for an instant, and that ruined my MacBook charger. Rawai disappointed us. It isn’t good looking, has no attractions, is very dirty, and the cafés and restaurants are very expensive. We did much better for less money at a resort at Karon beach, with top daily service, room cleaning, a big pool in front of the room, and fair, transparent prices. The owner here was nice, and that’s the only reason I’m giving two stars instead of one. He also advised us to get a sea-view room next time. This was a poor experience during our few precious holiday days. If you do want to go to Rawai, stay at a resort that provides security and service, with everything included in the price.
