The chicken fried rice went down well with everyone at our family meal, and it was prepared nicely. The chicken Pad Thai had a strong fish sauce taste that wasn’t quite for me, though people who like authentic Thai food may enjoy it. Mac Garden Resort & Restaurant is a relaxed, simple place with peaceful, tidy gardens and welcoming, attentive staff. It’s a short distance from the main ferry piers to Koh Samet. The restaurant serves local dishes that suit both local and visiting tastes, at reasonable prices, and service was quick. A handy Ban Phe stop for a straightforward meal in a pleasant family setting, especially if you’re heading to the islands.

It was a great spot for people watching, and only a short walk to the pier. The bed was huge and the air con worked great. It stayed quiet until sundown, then I started noticing hookers coming out of rooms. Definitely book online if you can, because it was half the price the lady at the desk quoted us.

The main plus is how close it is to the pier, and you might find a good deal on Agoda. Otherwise, the place is starting to feel old, and the price seems high for what you get. Similar places elsewhere in thailand would cost a third as much. The room is just a room, with a bed that doesn’t inspire, and the shower barely worked.

This is clearly budget accommodation, so if that’s what you expect, you’ll be 100% satisfied. It’s clean, comfortable, cheap, and in a good central spot very close to the pier but away from the main road. I can’t understand the harsh negative reviews on here. For what it is, the place is perfect.
