Royal Land Mae Klong Hotel

The room had no view, and the bathroom smelled and leaked. The staff weren’t helpful, either. The hotel also offers short stays for couples. It’s one of the ugliest hotels I’ve stayed in this year, but it was fine for one night. The train market is about a 5-minute walk away.

There’s a nice seating area in the lobby, with free coffee and a free bottle of water each night of your stay. The railway market is a short walk away, and a songthaew to the floating market is nearby too, for just 8 baht. We got to choose between two rooms and ended up with a clean, pleasant one. It was fairly basic, though options in the area seemed limited. The staff were very friendly and did their best to help, even though they weren’t fluent in English.

The service was good and the welcome was warm. The place is a little old, but it’s well maintained, and there’s free coffee in the morning. It worked for a one-day stay. The location is great, though I think there are other places around there to choose from.

It’s a simple, basic hotel for travellers visiting the famed Maekhlong Train Market, which is about a 5-minute walk away. Traffic can make it very noisy, so if that bothers you, ask for a room at the far end of the hotel.
