Walking Street Hostel by New Wave - Adults Only

There's a small lounge upstairs with sweets, coffee, water, and a fridge. The shower and toilets are separate and were clean for me, though the water was cold. Body wash, shampoo, and conditioner were provided. There's also a drying and laundry area out back. Bring a towel or rent one for 20 baht. The dorm mattress was a bit hard. Beds have blackout curtains and decent-sized lockers. I think the AC was off from around 10am to 2pm, but otherwise the room was cold. I don't think my sheets were changed during my three nights. Food and drinks aren't allowed in the dorm, only in the common area. It's in a good spot on walking street near the beach entrance by the landing pier. The downstairs area gets busy during the day because it's also a post/shipping office, I think, but it didn't bother me much since most people just pass through. Shoes stay downstairs.

For a dorm hostel, this is pretty good for the price, and the location is perfect. I was surprised it wasn't rated higher. You get a large locker and a safe, and breakfast is free, though very basic: just toast and coffee.

The shower has hot water and excellent pressure. My sheets and duvet were really damp when I arrived, but they changed them as soon as I asked. Rooms are clean, though the bathroom smelled foul. The large locker comes with an umbrella and beach bag. Breakfast is unlimited toast with butter and jam, plus coffee. Can't complain about a free breakfast. It's decent value, though a bit pricier than a hostel of similar standard elsewhere, as Koh Lipe tends to cost more.

The prices are outrageously high. The staff change the bed sheets, but I keep seeing them toss the inner sheets on the floor. They have dark expressions and won't talk to anyone. The sheets and pillows are stained, with menstrual blood and vomit left by the previous guest. The manager is related to this hostel and the neighboring hotel. They never knock before entering the women's dorm. Breakfast has no eggs, so stingy. Disgusting.
