The hotel is in a good spot, and the room was very clean, though small. I could hear a lot from the room next door, so it was noisy. My check-in was the bigger problem: they couldn't find the booking I made on the Hop Inn website, even after I showed the receptionist my printed confirmation. She turned it into a big drama instead of apologizing and making a new booking, even though rooms were available. She also wouldn't accept my Pink Thai ID. Maybe she hadn't seen one before, but she came across as ignorant. Some training in hospitality and professionalism would help.

We ended up at Hop Inn because Suphanburi had few hotel options over the long weekend. We'd passed on this chain before since the rooms seemed pricey for what they offer, usually around 700B. This one cost 680B a night, and we didn't feel it was worth that. Similar-priced places in Thailand, including B2, have more space and a bit more comfort and character. Our stay was fine, just not memorable. The room felt sterile, was very small, and had very little in it. Sleep comfort was average. There were only a few local TV channels, and the TV setup meant we couldn't plug our Google TV into the HDMI port. Instant coffee was available in the lobby.

The room was fine by Hop Inn standards, but the welcome at reception was poor. The receptionist wasn't friendly, didn't smile, and didn't seem to have much of a service attitude. I asked about nearby shops or a mini mart, and she seemed annoyed, telling me to look on Google Maps. I insisted I didn't want to use my phone, so she gave me directions, but they weren't helpful. The hotel entrance is also right at a sharp bend in the road.
