Horizon Hotel

The room was large but very basic, with no bedside lamps. Boats and people exercising across the river made a lot of noise from around 5am, and the balcony door barely kept it out.

At least the Wi-Fi and air conditioning worked. The room had odd yellow spots on the walls and floor, and the bathroom layout was awkward, with no curtain or cabin to keep the water contained, so everything got wet. Staff spoke very little English. The booking site gave us the wrong impression: we chose this hotel for the advertised free bikes and airport transfer, but neither was really available. The three bikes were children's bikes with flat tires and no locks, and there was no airport transfer at all. The city also felt uninteresting for tourists, with little to do or anywhere nice to eat. It wasn't worth it for us.

The outside of Horizon hotel didn't make much of an impression, but inside we found a very clean, spacious room and polite, helpful service. Ours was on the fourth floor, facing the river at the front, and had two rooms. The rate was reasonable. We spent two nights here after two at the CBD2 next door, and I'd happily return.

A really nice hotel and a great place to unwind before catching the night boat to Koh Tao.
