I stayed for a month and would definitely come back. In the heat, which reached 35C during the day, the room stayed cool enough that I didn’t even need the AC; the fan did the job. It was very clean and had no mosquitoes, with intact nets, which isn’t something you can take for granted. The price was excellent for what you get. The family were friendly and went out of their way to help or share information. Bang La On is a great base, with touristy restaurants and local Thai places an easy walk away.

A good-value room for backpackers. Shops are all around, including Macdonal, 7Eleven, local food shops, a mini mart, and a clinic. The bus stand is close, too.

I booked during a promotion expecting air conditioning, but the room only had a fan. It was scorching hot then, and since I’d already paid, I had to stay. They advertised a mountain view, which was technically true, but the mountains were just beside the road. The room felt like a standard student dorm and wasn’t worth the price. I hope they improve it. If I get the chance, I’d stay again, but I’ll ask for an air-conditioned room this time. 555
