Alanta Villa

The staff at Alanta villas are attentive and very helpful. They set up a WhatsApp group for communication, and the location is handy in the island's central interior, just off the main road. It's away from the beach but close enough to get around and enjoy the island. You do need your own transport to make the most of it, though plenty of local Thai food is within walking distance. Reception stayed open until late evening, parking fits four cars, and there's a dining table with six wooden chairs. We rented a two-bedroom villa with connecting rooms. The bedrooms aren't large, but had enough space, the beds and pillows were comfortable, and the air conditioning worked well. The outside living area has Thai-style padded benches and cushions, a medium TV with Netflix, and a coffee table. The kitchen has the basics: a fridge, coffee maker, kettle, toaster, utensils, plates, and glassware. The espresso machine and generous supply of pods were a nice bonus. The units are comfortable but dated, with average furnishings. I'd call it four and a half stars overall. The pool is big enough for very short laps, but could use better lighting. Its entrance has a steep step, so be careful, especially if you've been drinking. There are three loungers by the pool. The main drawback for us was the outdoor bathrooms and showers: too many ants and other crawling creatures, lots of bird droppings, and they were uncomfortably hot. Keeping toiletries outside felt kind of gross to me, though others may not mind. The rain-style shower was decent, small shower gels and shampoos were supplied, towels weren't hotel quality, and daily cleaning was provided, along with about eight beach towels. We were inland, surrounded by birds each morning as well as frogs, squirrels, and geckos. On our stay a monkey swooped down and grabbed bread we'd left in its plastic wrapper on the table for just a couple of seconds. They're cute but clever, so watch your food. Despite the minor issues, I'd recommend the villas. On top of the good location and comfortable setup, the staff made a real effort. A manager noticed my dive bags at check-in and asked whether I was scuba diving. Later he asked where I'd been diving, and on my first morning he even hurried out with a beach towel in case I needed one. A few days later he stopped his motorcycle on his way home after work to offer me a ride to the grocery store. I didn't need it, but appreciated that he thought to ask. The housekeeper also greeted me each morning, asked which room I was in, and checked whether I wanted it cleaned or needed anything.

Staying among all that nature made it easy to relax and recharge, and we even got to see monkeys around the property, which made the experience feel extra special. The staff were consistently welcoming, kind, and helpful. We tried three different villas during our stay at Villa Alanta and loved each one. Restaurants are an easy walk away, and the beach takes less than ten minutes to reach by scooter. We'd love to return. Thanks for such a lovely stay! 🌿🌊

We spent most of our days in the excellent swimming pool, and the lounge area was a great place to hang out too. It has lots of seating, a TV, a well-equipped kitchen, and a dining space. The rooms were spacious, and the outdoor bathroom was a nice extra. With two adults and two small children, we were all very comfortable. The photos don't really show how special this place is. If we come back to Koh Lanta, we'll stay at Alanta again.

The villas were perfectly laid out and had everything we needed. Staff were very friendly, and the service was great. Food was easy to order in, and monkeys even came to say hello. It's a short walk to the beach and convenient for reaching most areas. Highly recommend.
