Phuthan Hotel

There's no pool, the fitness equipment is broken, the fridge was empty, and reception had a pretty weak drink selection. This feels more like a short-term apartment than a hotel, and seems better suited to six-month contracts.

For only 550 Baht, it was good value and a very decent place to stop for a couple of hours' rest. My room was spacious and clean, the air conditioner was powerful, and the hot water worked well. The bed and pillow felt a bit too hard for me, though. I stayed one night while driving south.

The hotel was clean and comfortable, and everyone was friendly and helpful. It turned out to be a great stay for the price, though the surrounding area looks run down and doesn't seem to get much business. On arrival the location looked bad, but after driving between two old buildings, the hotel itself looked okay. I'd give four stars for the area around it.

The only thing I'd criticize is the road noise from cars and trucks. The rooms were very clean, and the pool was lovely after a hot day. We arrived late, but the friendly staff took care of everything we needed. I gave it four stars for the presentation and quality of our stay.
