The setting felt peaceful and tucked away, even with Bangtao's shops and restaurants only minutes off and the beach an easy walk. We stayed here as a family, and the hotel was beautiful, with a spacious view that helped us relax right away. My kids loved it, and the space and atmosphere made it easy for us to enjoy being together. It felt welcoming to families, not merely suitable for them. We liked our stay enough to book again for about five months from now. I'd gladly recommend it to anyone after a quiet, beautiful family stay that still keeps Bangtao's attractions close.

The price makes this hard to justify. For what a stay costs, you'd be better off in a tent on the beach. It barely passes as a resort, and the whole place seems to be falling apart. The sofas are stained and gross, and the laminate wood veneer is peeling everywhere. It's self-catering, but there's hardly anything that works, and no kitchenware or cutlery. No room service or cleaning unless you beg. The Wi-Fi is there in name only, it doesn't work.

Our room was luxurious and clean, and the service was decent. We had a three-bedroom penthouse with a private pool for three nights, but the pool was shut for a whole day and we got no compensation. They blamed us for the pool issue, saying sun lotion and jumping in had damaged it. I spoke to the front desk manager, but he didn't seem to care much. We also got stuck in the elevator for ten minutes, which left my wife with a big trauma. Breakfast wasn't anything special, but we managed to get it down.
