Friends Hostel - Phuket Airport

The room was clean and the showers were nice, which is why I’m giving it two stars. The staff weren’t rude, but they generally seemed unfriendly, and the air conditioning shut off at 10pm. Most of the positive reviews seem to be about the restaurant rather than the attached hostel. Music blasted past 2am, far louder than anything I’ve experienced at a party hostel. For an airport hostel, where people may be resting before or after flights, I expected it to be reasonably quiet.

I’ve never stayed in a cleaner hostel. The rooms have air conditioning, and the beds are really wide, almost queen-sized. It wasn’t busy and stayed fairly quiet, which I liked. It isn’t cheap, but I thought the cost was worth it for a good night’s sleep. The airport is about a 20-minute walk away.

The beds felt clean and comfortable, with a nice bit of privacy. What let the place down was the music. At 3am, the bar was still blasting it, and the bass carried loudly even up on the third floor. You’d think a place for travelers coming from or heading to a flight would stop the music at a reasonable hour.

It’s a clean, new hostel, so I was initially willing to put up with the loud music going late. But the next morning, I saw them preparing rooms after checkout: they dusted the sheets and covers instead of washing them. That’s not okay. The walk from the airport was also quite far, especially with no sidewalks.
