Laemsai Resort

Laemsai Resort is wonderfully peaceful and rural, with a little shop and a couple of restaurants within walking distance. We had a relaxing dip in the pool while waiting for our onward trip to a Liveaboard. Sak let us check out but stay and use the pool until our 16.30 pickup, which was much appreciated. We got in late, around 7.30 pm, and Sak gave us a warm welcome. If you arrive late, keep in mind the local fish restaurant shuts at 8. We hurried over and had a lovely dinner. Sak also insisted we have toast, tea, and some Thai sweets, even though breakfast wasn’t included. Our room was comfortable, with a firm bed and pillows, tea and coffee facilities, and a fridge. The bathroom was adequate, and the shower had hot water with decent pressure. WiFi worked well, despite Booking.com saying there wasn’t any. Getting a taxi at the airport took patience, as drivers didn’t want to take us to Laemsai Resort unless we paid too much. Bolt worked best for us. The resort is under the flight path, but we knew that and sleep well. Planes stop at night, so it wasn’t a problem. We’d come back to this part of Phuket and see Sak again.

There’s a good seafood restaurant nearby, and Grab made it easy to arrange a taxi to the airport. The place seems family-run, with clean rooms and a well-kept pool that’s kid-friendly. It gets a little over 1.20 meters deep at the deepest point. Nights are quiet, though you’ll hear some planes during the day because it’s near the airport. Handy if you want to relax near the airport for a day or so. One thing, if your room is near the entrance, a rooster might give you a very early wake-up call.

Such a beautiful place. It’s a bit out of the way, but just right for a little do-nothing break while travelling around Thailand.

The room matched the photos, and we had a lovely big balcony. The pool was really nice and the gardens were well planted. It’s a great place to stay near the airport, though the flight path runs right overhead. There isn’t much nearby: a tiny shop with limited stock and one cheap place to eat, where meals were 80 baht. The menu was small, but the food was always good and honest. There’s another restaurant close by with higher prices. We couldn’t get Grab food delivery because the location is remote. We’d still definitely stay again when flying from Phuket airport.
