Laya Suites & Residences

For a hotel complex this large, the fitness rooms have pretty limited equipment. At least they’re open 24 hours. My comments apply to both gym areas. The hotel itself is nice, but most guests are Russian and the noise level is higher because of that.

The pool was where I spent time unwinding and finishing my book during my two-night solo break. I was grateful for the room upgrade, and the open-air lobby plus two lovely pools gave the place a breezy feel. Everyone was welcoming. Khun Leena helped arrange a sunbed and umbrella, and Khun Kwan sorted out my direct booking and offered late checkout, though I couldn’t stay longer. My room was spacious enough for yoga, but the shower space felt cramped and I slipped when water spilled onto the floor. I hope they consider redesigning it. The auto toilet was a nice touch, even if it responded slowly, and a proper dressing table would be useful. Breakfast had good choices, including Dim Sum, rice soup, and Indian dishes. Dinner was more limited: two things I first wanted weren’t available, but Khun Gun and Khun Tree handled it kindly and even offered a discount. I liked the cute Starbucks-inspired café, its promotions, cakes, and ice cream. The in-room coffee was lovely, while the restaurant coffee tasted too bitter. The gym had good equipment but felt uninviting, with dim lighting, no music, and machines switched off. The kids’ club was quite small, and a free daily activity class would be a great addition. Khun NN and Khun Piw gave me a fantastic massage and facial, although the spa felt oddly exposed where it was located. Little things like the quality toothpicks added charm. The digital TV was good too, though its remote was slow. I’d like to return with my family, especially after the promotions Khun Kwan told me about. A rejuvenating stay. I’d have given five stars with a better shower layout and a livelier gym.
