Marriott Mai Khao Beach - Phuket

Turtle Mart, with its Starbucks, 7-12, and small market, is just a minute's walk away. We also enjoyed visiting Mai Khao proper. Trips by Grab to Phuket Old Town, the Elephant Sanctuary, and a boat tour were comfortable, and we didn't mind the travel time or reasonable cost. Our room was huge, with two private bedrooms and bathrooms, a roomy kitchen and dining area, a living room, and a balcony. The staff were warm and helpful, remembered our names, and really made an effort to make the stay special. A quick golf cart shuttle takes you to the beach or JW, so being away from the beachfront didn't bother us. We had at least one meal a day from the aqua bar or room service, and the food was great. The green curry, satay chicken, and Khao Pad were especially good. Fantastic resort, five stars.

Being surrounded by nature and away from central Phuket's bustle was lovely. I especially enjoyed the daily bicycle tours, and the resort's staff are wonderful at what they do. The food and drinks were amazing, and having a 7-11 nearby was handy. 🤩🚴‍♀️🌴🍹

This was our third visit, and we stayed from March 11 to May 10. The free kids' club runs from 10 AM to 7 PM, and the staff there were lovely with the children. My son had a great time and made friends quickly. The main pool and splash area were great too, with volleyball and a shallow section. There was a pool movie night once a week and a fire show twice a week. We stayed in a spacious, well-equipped two-bedroom villa with a private plunge pool. Housekeeping were kind and always smiling, made towel elephants or monkeys to entertain the kids, and topped up our water bottles whenever we needed. The restaurants served delicious Thai food that was Halal, and the 24/7 room service offered the same extensive menu. We loved the noodle broths and noodles, fried rice, and curries. There were plenty of other things to do, including yoga, a game room, table tennis, mini golf, and bikes to borrow. Turtle Village is close by, with a 7-11, shops, and restaurants. There's also a kids' play area and elephants feeding in the evening nearby. The JW Marriott is close as well, with restaurants and amenities, beach access, and a pool fire show. We had a fantastic time and will come back. Highly recommend it.

We spent three nights here, and the stay fell short of what we expected. The breakfast dining room was consistently hot, with little effective air conditioning, so it was uncomfortable to eat there. At Ginja restaurant at JW Marriott, the main course was underwhelming, and the mango sticky rice didn't have the sweetness or flavor we had found at other Phuket restaurants and local vendors. There were comfort problems in the room and around the property too. The elevators had no air conditioning, which was unpleasant in the Phuket heat. The bedroom and furnishings seemed dated, and we could hear noise from nearby areas late at night and early in the morning because the sound insulation was poor. The experience left us questioning the standards being presented.
