Micky Monkey Beach Hotel Phuket Maikhao Thailand

As locals, we keep coming back to Mickey Monkey for a peaceful beach day in Mai Khao. The beach is beautiful and usually feels almost empty, with the ocean right in front of you. The whole place has an easygoing atmosphere and lovely views, and it feels like a little retreat without the kind of price you’d expect elsewhere. It still seems like a secret spot to us, and we’re surprised more people haven’t found it. If you’re looking for somewhere calm and picture-perfect, this is our favorite place. We hope it gets more attention, and we think you’ll love it too.

I stayed overnight before my flight back to Bangkok. The resort is a little away from the busy shops, and I booked a villa. The room and bathroom were good, though the bed was somewhat hard. The pillows and towels, on the other hand, were soft. I also enjoyed the food, especially the way they made the chicken wings and Thai papaya salad. The beach was okay, but there was seaweed and the water got deep quickly. Be careful if you have children.

The sunset was one of the prettiest I’ve ever seen, and the food was delicious. We even found a bouquet waiting in the room, such a lovely surprise. It’s a simple place without many frills, and the bathroom had a few leaks. The staff were very kind, though they spoke hardly any English, so have Google Translate handy. Because of the language gap, we were given the wrong dishes twice. There are dogs, roosters, and hens roaming freely. They’re very sweet and don’t bother you. The beach slopes down and gets deep right away, so watch out for children. For what we paid, I’d recommend it.

The owners were wonderful when they found one of our lost things and helped us get it back. We’d definitely stay here again. Mickey Monkey was a great place for being close to Phuket Airport, and we saw people from the surrounding 5 star resorts coming here to eat and drink, probably for a more rustic Thai experience. The villas and huts are simple but comfortable, with ocean views and the water only steps away. The beach was beautiful, and they arranged a brand new motorbike for us to rent. We had a great stay.
