OYO 358 Rattana Residence Thalang

For under 500 thb a night, I was surprised by how comfortable the room was. The bed felt good, and the shower had hot water and strong pressure. Most TV channels were Thai, but there were a few English sports channels and a couple of movie channels. The lighting in the room and around the hotel was nice too. There are lots of restaurants nearby, with a 7 eleven just across the street.

Replying to the owner: thanks for getting back to me. The check-in mix-up was my main concern. I booked through the OYO website, and from your message I understand there was a problem at 6am that day. I got there early, at 12 noon, and waited around for two hours. They photographed my passport and took a deposit, but nobody explained the issue until after 2pm, when check-in time came. The security door was never locked, and the reception smelled absolutely putrid every day. I understand the staff need a lunch break, but this is a workplace. Fish head soup isn't normal to me, and switching on fans for the staff but not for customers is bad business. In my country, using personal mobiles at work is very rude. Everything else was fine, so I’ll update this because it feels a little unfair to focus only on check-in. Definitely get rid of OYO.

The room had an awful smell, and the bathroom door and shower holder were broken. The sink by the toilet looked terrible, like it hadn't been replaced in decades. Staff weren't going to address any of my concerns. Don't waste your time or money here, even if it's cheap.

The room was very spacious, with a huge bed and a balcony, and the air conditioning worked great. It's not a great area for walking around to see things, but we mostly used the room to sleep before going on tours during the day.
